In January, St. Stephens United Church of Christ started a monthly mission project. Each month, their Mission Committee invites representatives from a specific mission or ministry to speak to the congregation during worship. “By focussing on one ministry or agency a month, we get to know more about them, celebrate their successes and contribute to their valuable work,” said Rev. Michael Southcombe, Senior Pastor at St. Stephens. It allows them to “tell the stories that illustrate the impact that ministry has within the community or wider church,”
“Our radio ministry is a special advantage for these ministries to reach beyond St. Stephens’ membership and touch the hearts of the wider listening audience,” he said.
“For February, Theresa from MAC Home was able to tell our worship audience on the radio and on Facebook Live about how they help people reclaim their lives after losing their home or other place to live,” Rev. Southcombe explained. “It touched our members and friends to donate $2,045 during February for the healing that MAC Home makes possible.”
“This congregation has a history of being generous and zealous in their support of mission and ministry in the Merrill community and in the wider church,” Rev. Southcombe added.
