As the T.B. Scott Mansion has been decommissioned, some pieces are finding a new place in the community. Late last week, Ascension donated the handicap ramp from the property and helped make arrangements to improve accessibility for a Merrill man.
An ADA wheelchair ramp from the side entrance of the mansion was donated to the Merrill Food Pantry. Staff at the Food Pantry immediately identified that it could meet a need for one of their clients in the community.
On Friday, Mar. 12, associates from Medxcel Facilities Management at Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital delivered the ramp to Merrill resident Dan Forss. Using a wheel loader, the Medxcel crew safely set the ramp and leveled it to allow Forss to add on other portions to complete the ramp.
“We have had a long relationship with the Merrill Food Pantry which operates out of the Menard Center on the Ascension Good Samaritan campus,” said Jonathon Matuszewski, Chief Administrative Officer at Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital. “This was a great example of our associates joining with a valued partner to improve the quality of life for a member of our community.”
