Plautz named Athlete of the Week
Paige Plautz, Merrill High School (MHS) Junior, has been bowling since age five and bowling on the Merrill Varsity Bowling Team for three years. She recently tied her sister’s record for being the youngest bowler to bowl a 300 game (at the age of 16) at Les & Jim’s Lincoln Lanes. In addition to bowling for the MHS team, she bowls nearly every weekend in the Milwaukee area for the Junior Bowlers Scholarship Tour (JBST). Recently, Paige reports, she won her youth 17 girls division game, so she will be going to the Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind., this July with the JBST.
When she isn’t in school or bowling on a team or league, Paige still enjoys bowling for practice and fun. She also enjoys watching movies and shopping trips with friends, just hanging out with her friends, and her job at Culvers. Paige is the daughter of Heather Plautz and Beaver Plautz of Merrill. She has a 3.0 GPA and is planning to attend Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting, Ind. She is planning to study elementary education and to become a kindergarten teacher. “My other goal in life is to become a professional bowler,” Paige said.
