Merrill High School Wrestling held their 61st annual Merrill Wrestling Legion Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 18., in the Merrill High School auditorium. Seven wrestlers, of this year’s team of 20, received awards. Nik Zastrow received the Most improved Upperclassman Award and the Ogre Award for a wrestler who gets the most out of his ability. Caleb Stoeckmann received the Coaches Award, Tristan Brewington the Most Dedicated Award, Rod Genrich the Most Takedowns Award, and Jon Hart the Most Improved Underclassman Award. Ryder Depies received awards for Most Team Points and Most Pins, and Charles Gustin received the Outstanding Wrestler Award.
“It was a good way to end the season,” said Merrill Wrestling Coach Brian Suchocki. “The wrestlers worked hard to make the season happen. It was very rewarding to make the entire season without delay. The wrestlers earned it. The coaches appreciate all the hard work and wish them the best in their other sports, academics, and future plans.”
