Kerr and Underly will vie for State Superintendent of Public Instruction in April general election

The election last Tuseday, Feb. 16, centered on just one primary race in Lincoln County, Wisconsin: State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Seven candidates were on the ballot. Deborah Kerr and Jill Underly received the most votes, with 452 and 364 votes in Lincoln County, respectively.

According to the Lincoln County Clerk’s office, voter turnout was quite low, with less than 6% of eligible voters voting in the primary (including early voting and absentee ballots). Only 1,319 Lincoln County voters turned out for the Feb. 16 election. Lincoln County has 22,441 eligible voters, based upon 2010 census numbers.
Statewide, according to WisconsinVote.org, Jill Underly received 88,716 votes, accounting for 27.31% of the vote, while Deborah Kerr received 86,095, accounting for 26.5% of the vote. No other candidate received more than 16% of the statewide vote.
Underly and Kerr will now battle it out in the Apr. 6 general election to vie for the position of Wisconsin’s next Superintendent of Public Instruction.
