Alfred ‘Al’ Elliott

Alfred ‘Al’ Elliott, age 84, of Merrill, WI went to his eternal home on Saturday, February 13, 2021 under Palliative Care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital not due to Covid-19.  Al was born on April 27, 1936 to Avery and Viola Elliott in Adams County, WI.  He married Geraldine King on July 9, 1955 and they resided in the town of Summit until they moved to Merrill in 1962.  She preceded him in death on March 29, 1989.  He married Judith Rahlf on September 8, 1989.  She survives.  Al graduated in 1955 from Edgerton High School. He joined the National Guard in 1953 and was activated in 1961 to Fort Lewis in the state of Washington thru 1962.  After returning from active duty, Al opened a standard station in Merrill.  He later worked for numerous auto and lawn care businesses throughout his career until his retirement.  Al was an outdoor enthusiast enjoying hunting and fishing.  He was best known for his large vegetable garden, apple trees, raspberries, and blueberries.  He was also a sports fan of the Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and the Bucks.  Al is a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Merrill.

Al is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Dale (Joyce) Elliott, Dennis (Carla) Elliott, and Daniel Elliott (Karen Zeller); daughter, Dawn (Thom) Kluever; step-son Tom (Shelley) Rahlf; son-in-law, Ray Matsche; and daughter-in-law, Barb Elliott.  He is further survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine; son, DuWayne; daughter, Diane Matsche; grandchildren, Jason Elliott and Paige Elliott; brothers, Donald Elliott, Robert Elliott, and Louis Elliott; and brother-in-law, Duane ‘Finner’ Osness.

A public visitation for Al will be held from 10:30 A.M. until 12:00 P.M., Noon, on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  Immediately following the visitation, a private funeral service will be held.  Rev. Patricia Schutz will officiate.  Burial will take place in the Town of Summit Cemetery, Langlade County at a later date.  Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home.  The family requests no flowers please.  Memorials may be sent to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill, or the Lincoln County Humane Society in memory of Al.
