MAPS School Calendar Revision

MERRILL – Merrill Area Public Schools Superintendent Dr. John Sample announced that the district will add three days off onto the 2020-2021 school calendar.
“Time to properly plan for student instruction is important for our teachers,” stated Dr. Sample. “Our teachers are currently providing face-to-face instruction for most students while also preparing lessons for students required to virtually attend.”
The Board approved adding three more additional teacher planning days to the calendar at the Board meeting on Wednesday, January 27. Those dates are February 8, February 22, and March 8. Students will not attend school on these days.
“Time is definitely a need as we align student standards to quality instruction and effectively communicate with our students receiving virtual instruction,” added Dr. Sample. “The extensive time and dedication provided by our teachers have made possible the opportunity to educate all students, regardless of their location.
“We understand the challenges this calendar revision will present to many of our families,” stressed Dr. Sample. “We appreciate your patience as together we face the challenges this pandemic brings.”
