MAPS Board approves donations at Jan. 28 meeting

The following donations were approved at the Jan. 28 Regular Meeting of the Merrill Area Public Schools (MAPS) Board:
Funds from ARC Lincoln County (Walter Ristau Fund) valued at $3,000.00 for providing PRSYL children/early childhood with a diagnosis of DD/ID and/or to be used to provide parent education/training for parents of children with DD/ID.
Children’s snow clothes, blankets and learning tools from Little Lakes Memories valued at $750.00 for keeping Pine River School for Young Learners’s students warm and for green screen use in making videos for learning; orange juice and trail mix from the Merrill Food Pantry valued at $565.00 for PRSYL sharing with students and families; 10 sets of letter building blocks from TB Scott Library and Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital valued at $159.12 for PRSYL student learning in the classrooms; 25 pair of Mahauk compact binoculars from Eric and Laura Lussier-Lee valued at $1,124.00 for enriching student visits to the School Forest with opportunities for wildlife watching and observations; 4 children’s jackets from an anonymous donor valued at $80.00 for PRSYL children in need; 456 staff and student facemasks from Northwoods WI Face Mask Warriors of Rhinelander valued at $2,280.00 for keeping MAPS students and staff safe; ABC Mouse Workbooks from WalMart #1366 valued at $50.00 for academic achievement at Kate Goodrich Elementary School; the following donations for the Maple Grove Food Pantry for Maple Grove families and the surrounding community in need: non-perishable food items from Rib Falls Methodist Church valued at $500.00; gift cards from the Berlin-Hamburg Lions valued at $250.00; $400.00 worth of County Market gift cards from Mrs. Laurel Hoffmann; $50.00 worth of County Market gift cards from Mrs. Helen Weber; $50.00 worth of County Market gift cards from Jeff and Cindy Artus; and, a pallet of lumber from Menzner Lumber and Supply Co. valued at $1,000.00 for student projects in Tech Ed at Prairie River Middle School.
