MHS Sophomore Alayna Pozorski has been named Athlete of the Week. Alayna is in her first year playing Merrill Varsity Girls Basketball with the Lady Jays and said she primarily plays as a wing or point guard. During the Jan. 12 game against Marshfield, Alayna scored 13 of the 70 points it took to win the game. One spectator described her as being “on fire the entire first half of the game. She was all over the court – scoring, rebounding, and making her presence known.” In her free time, Alayna enjoys hanging out with friends and attending or watching athletic events as a spectator.
Alayna is the daughter of Rhonda and Glenn Pozorski of Merrill. She currently maintains a 3.68 GPA and plans to attend college after graduation but does not yet have a specific major in mind.
