Merrill Varsity Boys pull off a win against Marshfield

On Jan. 12, the Merrill Varsity Boys Basketball team pulled off a win against Marshfield, with a final score of 57 – 55.
“We are a banged up team right now, so this was a very big win for us,” said Coach Troy Pieper. “This was a gritty character win, a true defensive team win.”
“We held them to just 3 points the final 6 minutes of the game, I challenged the guys during a timeout at the 6:00 mark and they responded, and we found a way to battle back after being down 52-41.”
Trenton Lokemoen (6 FG, 1 3pt, 4 FT, 2 ast, 3 stl) put up the most points of the game with a total of 17. “Trent had his best game of the year; he was very aggressive all night. He’s starting to really get rolling a little bit and it’s a great thing to see,” Pieper said.
Nathan Woller was right behind him, putting up 14 points in the game. “Nate is still battling through some ankle issues and actually rolled it again during the game, but came back in and fought through it,” Coach Pieper said. “He was a big part in the win tonight. This senior group has never won at Marshfield, and it was clear they were ending that with the way Nate and the other seniors locked in down the stretch.”
Jake Zelinski (3 FG, 2 3pt, 3 ast, 1 stl) put up 8 points in the game tip the game in favor of the Bluejays.
