PRMS student Benjamin Thom has been named Youth Optimist of the Month, for the month of November. Son of Josh and Tina Thom of Merrill, Thom was nominated by 7th and 8th grade math teacher, Mrs. Rindt, who said: “Ben is a great role model both inside and outside the classroom. Ben has a quiet demeanor in the classroom and is self-motivated to always do his best. He consistently does what is asked of him and has a very strong work ethic in school. Ben often goes above and beyond what he is asked to do. He is kind and always willing to help others. Ben is a well-rounded student who demonstrates great leadership qualities.”
Ben was named student of the quarter in both 6th and 7th grades, earned a perfect attendance award, and is consistently on the honor roll. He is a member of the Delta Art Club, plays French horn in band, is a member of the Serce-2-Sisu strength and conditioning program, and he participates in the Merrill Baseball Program, playing for the Babe Ruth League and the Merrill Baseball Traveling League. Ben is also active as a volunteer in the community, assisting with concessions at baseball games, volunteering to umpire at Little League Baseball games, and also volunteering to assist with coaching Little League Baseball.
