There are nearly 1,600 locations across the United States and Canada, dedicated to improving our communities and helping others. Women’s auxiliaries total more than 1,300. Members are recruited by other members and must be sponsored by two members before the membership process begins. Their motto is “People Helping People.” The Merrill Aerie #584 was chartered in 1904 and the affiliated Auxiliary was organized in 1952. The club met in different locations throughout the City of Merrill until Nov. 17, 1949, when it moved to its current location at 1205 Lake Street in Merrill. The new building was opened for customers on Jan. 16, 2009, and has a bar and restaurant that is open to the public, with a banquet/meeting hall that can be reserved for private or public events.
