Tina Scott takes Foto News Editorial helm
The Merrill Foto News is excited to welcome Tina L. Scott as the new Editor of our community newspaper, replacing former Editor Jeremy Ratliff.
A Hamburg native, Scott spent the past six years as Business Manager at Saint Stephens United Church of Christ. Her job duties consisted of oversight of the church’s business affairs, as well as financials, and composition of the church’s newsletter.
A 1986 graduate of Merrill High School, Scott brings more than 20 years of professional writing and photography experience to her new position with the Merrill Foto News.
“What I look forward to the most in my new role, is the opportunity to talk to and work with the people in our community, and to tell their stories,” she says. “Writing and photography are two of my passions, and I’m excited to have a job that will integrate those two things so completely.”
Scott acknowledges she’ll have some big shoes to fill, taking over for Ratliff who began as a reporter for the Merrill Courier in 2008 and subsequently advanced within the Merrill Courier and then the Foto News, until taking over as Editor of the Foto News for former and longtime Editor Collin Lueck, in 2018.
“I’d like to thank Jeremy for his years of service and passion for reporting local news,” said Tim Schreiber, General Manager of the Foto News. “It is very exciting to welcome Tina to the Foto News; she brings so much writing experience along with her passion for photography. I am confident that Tina will continue to build on the quality reporting that our readers have come to expect from our past Editors, and will take it to the next level, as well,” Schreiber said.
