Merrill native advances to rank of USCG Master Chief
As of Thursday, Oct. 1, Merrill native Eric Monti, a 26-year active duty veteran of the United States Coast Guard, has advanced to the rank of Master Chief; the highest rank available to USCG enlisted personnel.
A 1992 graduate of Merrill High School, Monti is currently stationed at Coast Guard Air Station-Atlantic City, as an Aviation Maintenance Tehnician. As part of his duties, Master Chief Monti is responsible for the maintenance of the MH-65 Dolphin Medevac-capable, Search & Rescue Helicopter.
Prior to his current duty station in Atlantic City, Monti has previously served at Wisconsin air stations in Sturgeon Bay and Two Rivers as well as air stations abroad, such as Kodiak, Alaska; Barbers Point, Hawaii and Miami, Florida.
Son of Kirby Monti of Merrill and Donna Hermsen of Madison, Wis. Eric resides in Atlantic City, NJ with his wife Johanna, son Brooks (6) and daughter Evangeline (4).
