Two injured in Town of Schley furnace explosion

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received a 911 call from a residence on County Rd X in the Township of Schley at 3:25 p.m on Monday afternoon, Oct. 12,  advising of a furnace that blew up. The caller indicated her husband was trapped and both parties had received severe burns. Both parties were flown from the scene by Life Link 3 and 4 to Aspirus Hospital as a result of their injuries. Their condition is unknown at this time. The property owner advised he was attempting to ignite the furnace when it exploded. The cause is unknown and no structure fire resulted from the explosion.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Town of Russell Fire Department and First Responders, Pine River Fire Department and Merrill EMS all responded to the scene.
