Ruth L. Schulz
Ruth L. Schulz, age 93, of Merrill, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Benedictine Living Community in Wausau, WI, while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. She was born on June 21, 1927 to the late Arthur J. and Ruth M. (Duddeck) Mertig in Waukesha, WI. Ruth moved with her parents to Glidden, WI when she was seven years old. She attended and graduated from Glidden High School. She continued her education at Ashland County Normal School in Ashland, WI and taught for three years at the Morse State Graded School in Morse, WI. She met and fell in love with Donald Schulz and the two exchanged vows on December 22, 1949 in Glidden, WI. Ruth devoted her life to her husband, and the work he did as a pastor, and to her children. Her faith was strong and very evident.
Ruth is survived by her brothers: William Mertig of Ashland, WI and Allen (Nancy) Mertig of Boyds, MD; her children: Christine Michael of Utica, MI, Rebecca Schulz of Wausau, WI, Donna Schulz of Merrill, WI and Mark (Michele) Schulz of Hortonville, WI; daughter-in-law: Linda Schulz of Bennington, VT; grandchildren: Matthew (Tammy) Michael, Peter (Shannon) Michael, Sarah (Christopher) Schoensee, Mary Schulz and Emily Schulz, and great grandchildren: Elon Michael, Shaun Michael, Jonathan Michael, Grace Michael, Katelyn Michael, Jacob Michael, Jackson Schoensee, and Grant Schoensee. She was preceded in death by her parents: Arthur (Ruth) Mertig, husband: Rev. Donald C. Schulz, daughter: Linda Schulz, son: Paul Schulz.
A private graveside service for Ruth will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11am at the Faith Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Scott. The Rev. Donald Love will officiate. Please practice social distancing and masks are strongly encouraged. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s name may be directed to the Faith Lutheran Church in the town of Maine.
