09-14-2020
At 10:12 a.m, an officer responded to a gas skip complaint. The caller advised the gas skip occurred three days prior. The investigation is ongoing.
09-15-2020
At 8:38 a.m, an officer responded to an ordinance violation. The caller advised an unknown party put up a tree stand on the golf course. It was later determined this was the Fire Dept. tree stand used for rescue training.

At 4:10 p.m, an officer responded to a theft complaint. The caller had a garden wagon stolen from their yard. The investigation is ongoing.
At 6:55 p.m, officers responded to a court order violation complaint. The caller advised a male party was at a tavern and was consuming alcohol against his court order. Contact was made with the male party who had been consuming alcohol. The male was arrested for misdemeanor and felony bail jumping.

At 11:06 p.m, officers were dispatched to a disorderly conduct complaint. The caller advised numerous people were yelling outside of an apartment. Contact was made at the residence and a female party was observed pulling another females hair and pushing her down the stairs. An investigation revealed a physical altercation had taken place in the apartment. The two females were cited for underage drinking and disorderly conduct.

At 10:13 p.m an officer was dispatched to a theft complaint where a bicycle was stolen from a park. The investigation is still ongoing.

09-18-2020
At 1:56 p.m a caller reported a domestic disturbance at a residence. Upon officer’s arrival the involved male exited the residence through a window and fled the scene. It was found the male had been breaking things inside the residence and had taken the involved female’s phone. The man will be charged with domestic disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and intimidation of a victim. At 6:30 p.m. the male made phone contact with the female using his stepdaughter’s phone and made threats to the female. As such he will additionally be charged with unlawful use of a telephone.

At 4:43 p.m a male reported finding a debit card left in an ATM machine. The officer was able to locate the owner’s address and return the card.

At 5:18 p.m a caller reported her daughter’s phone was stolen while in a backpack at school. The person who had the phone was texting the owner’s parents. Eventually the parent of the juvenile that took the phone located it and returned it. The parents worked the matter out among themselves and no enforcement action was taken.

09-19-2020
At 9:18 a.m a caller reported his roommate had stolen the SIM card out of his cell phone. Investigation is ongoing.

At 10:38 a.m a store reported a shoplifter. The suspect was confronted at the store and removed merchandise from his pockets. It was found he had also stolen some other items and left the store with those. The employee was able to provide a registration plate for the vehicle and surveillance video of the theft. Investigation is ongoing.

At 12:23 p.m a caller reported a pickup truck driving on the River Bend Trail. The caller reported this has been the second time she has observed this vehicle driving on the trail.
Please note NO motorized vehicles are allowed on the River Bend Trail.

At 1:49 p.m a caller requested a welfare check on a female that was either sleeping or passed out in a vehicle in a parking lot. It was found the female was suffering from a medical issue and an ambulance was summoned to the scene.

At 4:00 p.m a crash was reported on E 1st St east of Grand Ave. A group of motorcycles were travelling eastbound and one took his eyes off the road to look at something in Stange’s Park. When he looked back at the roadway he struck the motorcycle ahead of him. One female was injured in the crash.

At 6:00 p.m officers assisted Merrill Fire Dept. after a caller reported a fire in his kitchen. Officers found something smoldering in the oven but did not want to open the oven door fearing oxygen would exacerbate the smoldering. The tenant reported he did not use the oven forcooking but rather for storage. Merrill FD discovered books had been stored inside the oven. It is unknown how the oven got turned on.

09-20-2020
At 9:29 p.m a caller reported her ex had confronted her new boyfriend at her place of employment grabbing the boyfriend at one point. Following this, the ex then began sending text messages to them. Contact was made with the ex who provided a contradictory version of events as to what transpired at the place of employment. The officer will be obtaining surveillance video from the business to determine what actually occurred.
