The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary is proud to announce Addison Nelson-daughter of Chase and Stephanie Nelson- as the First Place national winner of the 2019-2020 Illustrating America Art Contest, for grade division kindergarten through second.
Addison, age 8, was a 2nd grade student at Kate Goodrich Elementary School. She was sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary Post 1638, in Merrill. This is the first year for this patriotic art contest.
Entries were judged on patriotic theme and technique. Addison’s artwork was chosen at the local auxiliary level and was sent to district for additional judging. When she won at the district level, her artwork was sent to state for additional judging. Only one winner from each state advanced to National Judging. Addison won a $100 Visa Gift Card for her watercolor artwork.
