Martin ‘Marty’ Henry Stenberg

Martin ‘Marty’ Henry Stenberg, age 82, of Irma, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at his home while surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.  He was born in Merrill on July 12, 1938 to his loving parents, Hjelmar and Anna (Schluckebier) Stenberg.  Marty grew up in Irma and eventually met the love of his life, Donna Erickson.  The two exchanged marriage vows on June 20, 1964 in the town of Pine River. Marty was an amazing husband, son, brother, father, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and friend.  He enjoyed taking rides on the side-by-side, watching football, spending time with family and friends, going to lunch with friends and spending time outdoors.  Marty was a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River, where he also served as an Elder.

Marty will be sadly missed by his wife: Donna Stenberg, his children: Brian Stenberg, David (Sarah) Stenberg, Dawn (Shawn) Weaver and Matthew (Charlotte) Stenberg, brother: Stanley Stenberg, daughter-in-law: JoAnna Stenberg, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,numerous sister-in-law’s, brother-in-law’s, nieces, nephews and many good friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Keith Stenberg, brothers: Edward, Harry, Delmer and Robert, sister: Elsie and half-sister: Naemi.

In the interest of public safety and to comply with the current health recommendations, there will be a drive-thru visitation for Marty at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River on Saturday, August 29, 2020 from 9:30am until 11:30am.  Instructions will be given upon entrance to the church.  The funeral service will be held outdoors on Saturday at 12 noon at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Pine River.  The Rev. Gregory Laska will officiate.  Military honors will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1638 immediately following the service.  Burial will take place at a later date. A recording of the visitation and funeral will be posted under Marty’s obituary on our website by Monday August 31, 2020. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations in Marty’s name be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services for taking such excellent care of him during his time on hospice.
