Downtown Mission Church goes outdoors

Downtown Mission Church's outdoor service, now held at the new Banker's Square Pocket Park on E. main Street.

The church has left the building!
Downtown Mission Church (DMC) normally meets at 805 E. Main Street next to the Cosmo Theater, but this summer they are outside at Banker’s Square – the recently developed pocket park between Merrill Community Bank and the Merrill Foto News offices. Just as COVID19 has created challenges for businesses, it has also placed challenges on places of worship.
“After discussion with the Lincoln County Health Department and the Department of Parks and Recreation, we felt that in order to mitigate risks in returning to worship it was in the best interest of our church members and our community to meet outside” said Pastor Justin Novitski. Service is held at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chair or blanket, an umbrella for additional shade or light rain, and their own refreshments (food and coffee will not be served). In case of rain, an announcement will be made on DMC’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/DMCMerrill/ on Saturday evening and service will take place in the building. In the event that service needs to take place in the building, precautions have been put in place by distancing the chairs and opening the garage door for better ventilation. If individuals are uncomfortable gathering in person, the service is available to be streamed online on Facebook and YouTube from Downtown Mission Church’s Wausau campus.
