Local WWII veterans to be honored May 22-25

Over the last six months, Pine Grove Cemetery planned to have the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard present “The Colors” in honor of the five WWII Veterans whose veteran
government markers were found in storage at the cemetery in November of 2019. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to commence with that public gathering.
At this time, we will set up a display of those five veteran’s markers around the flag pole on the front lawn of the Pine Grove Cemetery. The public is invited to stop by to pay their respects on a 1-1 basis. Visitors are asked to keep the gathering of respect be kept below the 10 persons per group limit and that visitors remain six feet apart in viewing. Viewing will be available Friday, May 22 thru Monday, May 25, after which time the plaques will be placed on their respective burials.
Those to whom respects are due are: Walter R. Schroeder, Charles D. Trettin, Milton Franklin Nass, Norman E. Rust and Loren F. Brunsman. Any questions may be directed to the Pine Grove Cemetery at 715-842-4560.
