Lincoln County Reports Second Case of COVID-19
Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) is confirming that a second person has tested positive for COVID-19 in Lincoln County. The individual is in their 90’s and is expected to have become infected through community transmission. The individual is in isolation and LCHD is contacting others with whom the person had close contact with.
Shelley Hersil, LCHD Director/Health Officer asks community members to continue to protect yourself and those around you by physically distancing yourself from others and practicing good hygiene.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is far from over so now is not the time to become complacent. We must continue to have resolve and think of our friends and neighbors as we help keep our community strong and healthy,” Hersil added.
In addition, people should continue to:
● Frequently and thoroughly wash hands with soap and water
● Cover coughs and sneezes
● Avoid touching your face
● Stay home when sick
● Practice physical/social distancing
● Avoid large gatherings and crowds
● Utilize cloth face coverings when physical/social distancing is difficult to do
People with confirmed infections have a range of symptoms, from little to no symptoms to people being severely sick and dying. Symptoms may include: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, headache, fatigue, body or muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of smell and loss of taste. It’s important to remember that COVID-19 can be spread to others even if a person does not have symptoms.
If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please contact your medical provider to make arrangements for testing. While this virus predominantly affects our vulnerable population more acutely, no one is immune from developing serious, even life threatening complications. Please protect others by protecting yourself.
LCHD is keeping track of this outbreak. We are working with our local, state, and federal partners to deal quickly
and effectively when people have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been around people who have been infected with COVID-19 to make sure our community remains safe and healthy.
LCHD will continue to update our Facebook page Monday-Friday, with current COVID-19 case counts. This is a rapidly evolving situation.
