First local COVID-19 positive confirmed

The first positive test of COVID-19 in Lincoln County has been confirmed as of Thursday, April
According to information released by the department, the individual-who is currently isolating at home- is in their 70’s and has not had contact with anyone who has tested positive for the virus.
County health officials are working to determine how the person may have become infected and will be contacting individuals in the next few days who have come in close contact with the person.
Anyone who has had contact with the individual and is symptomatic will be isolated, the Health Department said. People who have been in contact with the individual and don’t have symptoms will be self-quarantined at home and monitoring themselves for symptoms.
The Health Department said it will be checking daily with individuals who are isolated or self-quarantined to their home.
“Lincoln County Health Department has experience caring for individuals in isolation and doing necessary follow-up,” said Shelley Hersil, Health Officer, Lincoln County Health Department. “We will continue working with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, our local healthcare providers and other partners to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the county.”
