Lincoln County issues travel advisory to seasonal and second homeowners

Lincoln County is joining Vilas and Oneida in asking seasonal and second homeowners to not visit the area as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

On March 19, the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors declared a county emergency within the county by reason of an imminent threat of disaster impairing medical care, health, and other critical systems of the county due to COVID-19.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic and the national spread of the COVID-19 virus, Shelley Hersil, Public Health Officer of Lincoln County, issued the following inter-county Travel Advisory:

  1. Due to high community transmission throughout the state of Wisconsin and neighboring states, as well as Governor Evers’ Safer at Home Order, we recommend that you stay in your home area if you have a seasonal or second home in Lincoln County. Due to our very limited healthcare infrastructure, please do not visit us now.
  2. People who have seasonal homes in Lincoln County, please stay at your Winter homes at this time. If you are already back in Lincoln County, you must immediately self-isolate for 14-days.
  3. Lincoln County has one of the highest populations of older adults in the State of Wisconsin. This population is at the highest risk of COVID-19; it is our priority to keep our older residents healthy and safe.
  4. This is an ever changing and very serious health situation, and Lincoln County needs to be diligent in its response. For the most up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 visit https://co.lincoln.wi.us/covid19.

A total 103 tests had been conducted in the county with 81 testing negative and 22 still pending. Vilas, Oneida and Marathon counties all have confirmed cases. Statewide a total 2,267 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported with 68 deaths.
