After breaking two Merrill bowling records in 2019, Piper Plautz has now qualified herself for the High School Bowling Club State Championship. To qualify for state Plautz needed to be one of the top six bowlers in her district (District 9) by the end of the season, which she was able to accomplish. Plautz will compete in the singles portion of the tournament on Friday, March 6, at Dale’s Weston Lanes.
As reported in October of 2019, Plautz has had a record-breaking season this year becoming the youngest Merrill girl bowler to complete a 700 series on Oct. 8. One week later on Oct. 15, Plautz would go on to set another Merrill record becoming the youngest girl or boy to roll a 300 game, accomplishing both at just 16-years old.
Following the singles and team competitions at state, Piper will be joined by her younger sister Paige (15-years old) as they will compete in the Storm Scholarship Doubles tournament on Sunday, March 8. All competitions will be held at Dale’s Weston Lanes, with the singles tournament beginning on Friday, March 6, at 4:30 p.m.
