George Edward Daubert

George Edward Daubert, 82, of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at Medford Aspirus Care and Rehab.  Memorial services were held on Friday, February 28th at 11AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Medford. Pastor Ralph Shorey officiated the service.  Visitation was held from 9am until the time of service.

George Daubert was born on March 26, 1937 in Merrill, the son of Sam and Marcella (Gerstberger) Daubert.  He was raised in Lincoln County in the Township of Corning. George attended Maple Grove school and Merrill High School.  He worked at Fromm Brothers mink farm. He started work at Dittrich mink ranch in 1957 where he worked until 1991. During his time working for Dittrich’s mink ranch, he and his wife also owned the Chaparral Supper Club for a few years.  Following that he worked for his brother-in-law, Jack Zuleger and Son Construction for a little over a year. He and his wife then owned the Kountry Korner Bar from 1992 until the time they sold it in 2000. Following that, George officially retired. Over the years, George enjoyed shooting pool as he shot in singles and doubles pool leagues in the area.  You could find George fishing and going to truck pulls with friends and family as well. Nascar racing, gambling at the casino and old cars were also passions of George’s.  His cars were his pride and joy as they received many accolades over the years! In the later years of his life, George enjoyed going to baseball, basketball and any sport his great grandkids played.  He loved watching them play and always had pointers for them after games. He traveled near and far to be at as many games as he could. He will be missed in the stands, but now has the best seat in the house for each and every game.

George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Luella (Zuleger) Daubert; a daughter, Tami (Jeff) Kallenbach; a grandson Judd (Brenda) Hraby; and 3 great-grandchildren Tanner, Rylee, and Laney Hraby all of Medford.  Also survived by a sister, Sandy (Mike) Kummer of Medford, an aunt Betty Quednow of Rib Lake, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. George also was a godfather to five godchildren (Kevin Neumueller, Kris Anderson, Laura Peterson, Mark Willner, and Jason Zuleger). George was preceded in death by his parents, four brother/sister-in-laws and a nephew.

Money given in George’s name will be put towards the Medford Baseball Booster Club for future projects to the high school baseball field.
