The Lincoln County ADRC (Aging & Disability Resource Center) has teamed up with the Gleason Lion’s Club to provide local senior citizens with a monthly lunch. The lunch is served on the third Wednesday of each month at the Gleason Lion’s Club, N5179 Bradley St., Gleason. Anyone 60-years old or older is eligible for the lunch, along with their spouse or partner that dines with them.
According to Barb Hartwig, Nutrition Service Supervisor for the ADRC of Lincoln and Langlande Counties, Gleason is the perfect location for their monthy lunch.
“We started here in Gleason in the month of January and the Gleason Lion’s Club has been the perfect spot to host this lunch,” Hartwig said. “We are trying to get folks from Lincoln County, especially from the rural parts to come out and have lunch. The meal is only half of what we are trying to accomplish. People living in rural areas can get very lonely, especially in the winter, so this event is really to help these people socialize as well. People really seem to be enjoying themselves and it has been very successful so far.”
For those interested in attending their next lunch, the ADRC will be back at the Gleason Lion’s Club on March 18, with lunch starting at 1 p.m. The menu for March includes spaghetti and meat sauce, romaine lettuce salad, garlic bread sticks, diced pears, pineapple cake, coffee and milk. The ADRC asks for a meal contribution of $3.75, however any eligible person will not be denied for the inability to contribute. Reservations are required for the lunch and can be made by calling (715)536-0311.
All reservations for March must be made by noon on Monday, March 16.
