Merrill Police Department calls for Service

February 3
At 8:27 p.m., officers responded to a drug activity complaint. The anonymous caller advised that there were parties sitting in a vehicle and were smoking marijuana. Contact was made with the owner who admitted to smoking “dabs” and he turned over drug paraphernalia. The investigation is ongoing.

February 4
At 8:30 p.m., an officer responded to a theft complaint. The caller advised she had $450 stolen from her piggy bank. The investigation is ongoing.

February 5
At 2:37 p.m., officers arrested a male for a probation violation.

February 6
At 2:48 a.m., an officer took a report of a hit and run accident that had occurred on Foster Street. A suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

February 7
At 10:37 p.m., officers responded to an anonymous call of an underage drinking party. Officers made contact with the homeowner who advised there were no juveniles drinking at the residence. Complaint was unfounded.

February 8
At 9:54 a.m., an officer responded to a forgery complaint. The caller had numerous unauthorized charges on her credit card. The investigation is ongoing.

At 8:51 p.m., officers responded to a bail jumping complaint. The caller advised her grandson was under the influence of something and would not come out of the bathroom. The male party has bond rules of absolute sobriety. Officers made contact with the male party and he displayed the signs of intoxication. He admitted to consuming alcohol. The male was arrested for one count of bail jumping.

February 9
At 7:12 p.m., an officer responded to a harassment complaint. The victim is being harassed by a male party while at work. The officer made contact with the suspect and he has been banned from the business.

February 11
At 6:48 p.m., officers were dispatched to a business on Pine Ridge Avenue for a report of a male subject that was in the store that had an active warrant for his arrest. The male subject was located, taken into custody and transported to the jail.

February 12
At 12:21 p.m. a fourteen-year-old student was cited for disorderly conduct and turned over to her mother after creating a disturbance at the school.

At 6:16 p.m. a caller reported someone had struck her vehicle while in a bank’s parking lot that day and left the scene. The officer will be reviewing bank surveillance video to determine what occurred and attempt to locate the driver of the striking vehicle.

February 13
At 7:26 a.m. an officer investigated a crash on Prospect St at W Main St. A driver was stopped at a stop sign and began creeping out into the roadway but stopped for oncoming traffic. The vehicle behind rear-ended that vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle was cited for following too closely and a crash report was completed.

At 6:33 p.m. a caller reported she found a marijuana pipe in her mailbox. It is unknown who put it there or why. The pipe was destroyed at the police department.

February 14
At 8:15 a.m., an officer responded to a local business after it was reported that a male crashed his car into the side of that business. An investigation resulted in the male driver being arrested for drug related OWI 1st offense, bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia and a probation violation. The male also had warrants for his arrest.
