Merrill Police Department Calls for Service
January 27
At 9:54 a.m., a male reported the theft of a snow shovel from outside his residence.
January 28
At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to 308 Grand Ave. for a vehicle that had backed into a gas meter. The meter was hissing and dispensing gas into the air. Officers conducted a traffic crash investigation and assisted Merrill Fire Department personnel in managing the gas leak as well as notifying and evacuating residents in the area. The scene was ultimately made safe by WPS and the investigation was completed. All residents returned to their homes.
January 30
At 10:20 p.m., a female reported a vehicle parked across the sidewalk on the other side of her street. The vehicle was found to be parked across the sidewalk and was issued a parking ticket. The neighbor’s vehicle was also parked across the sidewalk and was also ticketed.
