Merrill Police Department Calls for Service

January 13
At 12:15 p.m., an officer investigated a bail jumping complaint. As a result, a male party is being charged with 6 counts of felony bail jumping.
At 2:15 p.m., a female reported fraudulent charges on her debit card. The investigation is ongoing.
At 2:35 p.m., an officer arrested a male for a probation violation.
January 14
At 5:46 p.m., an officer responded to a report from a local business that a male had taken a vehicle for a test drive and did not return the vehicle. The male returned the vehicle hours later and it was found that the male had a warrant for his arrest. The male was arrested for the warrant.
January 15
At 2:49 a.m., officers responded to a noise complaint at a local tavern for a group of people standing outside yelling. Contact was made with parties outside and inside the tavern. One party had an open bottle of beer in front of them inside the bar. The bartender was cited for a violation of closing hours.
At 4:01 p.m., officers responded to the office of Probation and Parole to take a male party into custody. The male fled from the office as officers arrived on scene. The male party was chased on foot and was taken into custody. He was charged with resisting an officer and the probation violation.
January 16
At 2:48 p.m., an officer responded to a theft complaint. The caller advised an employee had stolen money and gift cards. An investigation is ongoing.
January 17
At 4:00 p.m., an officer responded to a report of suspicious activity. The caller advised that a dark 4 door vehicle had been following his son home from the middle school. The vehicle was keeping pace with his son while he walked and appeared to wait for him while he hid in the bathroom of a gas station for 30 minutes. The vehicle was described as having tinted windows, a tinted Vikings license plate, and possibly a Chevy model. However, no license plate information was obtained by the victim. The vehicle left the area prior to officers being called and officers were unable to locate the vehicle at the time of the call.
January 19
At 10:12 p.m., officers were called to a local business for a male party requesting to be taken into custody for an active warrant. The male party was located and taken into custody. The male party was also found to be on probation with rules prohibiting his consumption of alcohol. The male party was under the age of 21. The male party was taken to jail for his active warrant, a probation violation and was issued a citation for underage alcohol possession 7th offense.
