Remainder of county snowmobile trails open as of noon Thursday

Thursday morning, Jan.16, the Lincoln County Forestry, Land and Parks Department announced the opening of the Zone 2 snowmobile trails in south-central Lincoln County. However trail closures remain in effect in portions of Zone 1.
“Lincoln County’s funded snowmobile trails (County Administrated Trails) in Zone 2 and Corridor 17 in Zone 1 from Intersection #65 north to Intersection #30 at the Park and Ride will open as of Noon Thursday Jan. 16,” Forestry Director Kevin Kleinschmidt stated as part of a press release.
“Clubs report that the X Trail crossing Lake Alexander in Zone 2 near Merrill is not signed and is closed. Winter ATV trails in Zone 2, 3 and 4 will remain closed until 8 a.m. Thursday Jan. 23. Zone 1 trails remaining closed are as follows: Corridor 19 south of Highway 86 and Corridor 17 west from Intersection #65 to Intersection #33. All other Zone 1 trails are open.”
Trails are in early season condition and may be rough and icy in some areas.
All trails are closed to winter ATV use when the temperature is above 28 degrees F.
Be aware of Trail Closed signs, stay on marked trails only and respect private land.
