Portion of county snowmobile trails open as of Friday morning

Thursday afternoon, the Lincoln County Forestry, Land and Parks Department announced the first opening of Lincoln County snowmobile trails
According to a press release issued by the department, “With exceptions, Lincoln County’s funded snowmobile trails (County Administrated Trails) in Zone 1 and the Hiawatha Trail will open as of 9:00 AM Friday December 20, 2019. Zone 1 trails remaining closed (west of Tomahawk) are as follows: Trails 8, 10, 10A, 86, and Corridor 19. Also Corridor 17 south of the Park and Ride at intersection #30 remains closed. All trails in Zones 2, 3, and 4 will remain closed at this time.”
Local snowmobile clubs are reporting that lake crossings will remain closed. Winter ATV trails in Zone 1 will remain closed until 9:00 AM Dec. 27, 2019. Trails are reported to be in early season condition and may be rough and icy in some areas. All trails are closed to winter ATV use when the temperature is above 28 degrees F.
Be aware of Trail Closed signs, stay on marked trails only and respect private land.
