Fatal crash leaves one Merrill man dead

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash which occurred early Wednesday morning in the Town of Corning.

At 3:12 AM a cell call reported the crash on State Rd 64 near Elm Grove Rd. The witness, who was traveling in a separate vehicle; reported the victim swerved to miss a deer in the roadway, left the roadway and rolled over.

Corning firefighters responded to the scene and extricated the victim from the vehicle, he was pronounced dead on the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Paul. C. Proulx.

Deputies have determined that alcohol did not play a role in the crash. The name of victim, a 50 year old Merrill man, is being held until his family has all been notified.
