Merrill Police Department Calls for Service

November 4
At 9:10 a.m., an officer located what was believed to be an abandoned vehicle. After further investigation, it was found the vehicle had been entered as stolen. The reporting agency was contacted and the vehicle was confirmed to be stolen from their jurisdiction. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the rightful owner was contacted.

At 9:57 a.m., officers were dispatched to a complaint of male causing issues at a store. The store requested the male be banned from the store due to his actions. Officers at the time are still attempting contact with the male.

At 1:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Probation and Parole Office in reference to a male who had violated his probation rules. The male was taken into custody for the probation violation and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

At 3:39 p.m., a male party came to the Merrill Police Department and turned over an item that he had received and believed it had been stolen. The item was later returned to the rightful owner and the investigation is ongoing.

At 6:14 p.m., officers were dispatched to a theft complaint. Officers were advised that someone had entered the complainant’s garage and vehicle and stole a few items from the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing.

November 5
An officer met with an individual that wanted to report coming home and finding that someone was inside of their residence. The individual fled once the party came home. A couple of items were found to be missing from the residence and the investigation is ongoing.

November 6
At 10:55 a.m., an officer responded to a suspicious activity complaint. The caller advised their fence gate was open and someone had placed an open jug of antifreeze in the yard. The caller was afraid this was left for her dogs. The investigation is ongoing.

November 7
At 11:04 a.m., an officer responded to a shoplifting complaint. The business had a female on camera stealing items. Investigation is ongoing.

November 8
At 7:53 p.m. information was received regarding a wanted party being at a local business. Contact was made with the wanted party who was arrested for an active warrant through the Department of Corrections.

November 9
During the morning hours, officers responded to multiple complaints of garage burglaries and unauthorized vehicle entries to unsecured vehicles on the East side of the city. Officers are continuing to investigate these incidents.

At 5:55 p.m., an officer checked on a suspicious vehicle and found that a female occupant had an active arrest warrant. That female was arrested for the warrant. A male occupant of the vehicle was found to be under the influence of illegal substances which was against the rules of his probation. The male was arrested for the probation violation. Officers found that the male was in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia and that there was drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. Both the female and male may be facing drug related charges as a result.

At 8:34 p.m., an officer located a male who had an active warrant for his arrest. The male was arrested for the warrant.

At 10:13 p.m., an officer investigated a fraud complaint. A female reported unauthorized transactions from her bank account.

November 10
At 5:31 p.m. officers responded to a report of a hit and run crash on West Main St between the bridges. Information received was there were two vehicles involved and that one of the vehicles had parked and individuals were observed fleeing into the woods. The other involved vehicle also fled the area. Contact was made with the owner of the abandoned vehicle who then wanted to report the vehicle stolen. As the crash turned into a stolen vehicle investigation the owner eventually advised the vehicle was not stolen but did not know who the operator was. The investigation is ongoing.

At 10:25 p.m. officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of S Pine St for a drug activity complaint. Contact was made with the adult homeowner and several juveniles present. Several juveniles were found to be drinking and drug paraphernalia was turned over by the homeowner. Multiple forms of enforcement action were taken with the homeowner and the guests.
