Ambassadors of the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce, joined Emerald Studio Hair & Beauty owners Hollie Lokemoen and Tia McGregor for the ribbon cutting of their new business on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Officially opening their studio on Friday, Nov. 1, McGregor and Lokemoen have been involved in cosmetology for several years.
McGregor began working in cosmetology in 2010 and Lokemoen in 2011, both have long waited to begin a business of their own.
“I think everyone has a goal of self-improvement and this was a step toward that for us,” said McGregor.
Lokemoen backed McGregor’s statement, citing growth as a big contributor to making the jump of owning a business,
“We also wanted to grow and expand, and bring some business to this side of town,” added Lokemoen.
Emerald Studio offers a wide variety of beauty services including, full hair service, make up, eyelashes, body waxing and starting in May; will begin offering skin care.
Emerald Studio is open on Mondays from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m., Tuesdays 10 a.m.- 7 p.m., Wednesdays 11 a.m.- 8 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment only.
However, as Lokemoen explains; studio hours can be flexible.
“We are pretty flexible with our hours,” said Lokemoen. “There will be some days that I come in to work on a Thursday and some days that we will open early or close late.”
