Church Mutual networking event benefits local nonprofits
MERRILL, Wis. – Female employees of Church Mutual Insurance Company recently gathered for networking and fun, while also supporting worthy causes in the Merrill community.
The Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) at Church Mutual incorporated the spirit of giving into its annual fall networking event. Prior to the event, WLI held a collection drive, “Give a Little, Help a Lot,” for the MAC Home and the Food for Kids program.
The more than 110 women who attended the networking event heard presentations on the two organizations from Beth Houle, coordinator of the Food for Kids program at St. Stephen’s Church, and Mike Ravn, a board member of the MAC Home, Merrill’s homeless shelter. Ravn also is the former president and CEO of Church Mutual.
At the event, WLI presented the sizeable donations to the organizations.
“WLI exists for the benefit of the women of Church Mutual,” said WLI president Dawn Schroder-Silvela. “But I also feel strongly that as we network, we can also be doing some really good work in our communities. Women in numbers are powerful; why not share that outside these walls?”
WLI was established at Church Mutual in 2016 to elevate and empower female employees through professional networking, leadership development and mentorships.
