Merrill High School senior Dawson Dengel was a menace for opposing teams on the football field this year. Not only was Dengel a force on the Jays offensive line, but he was also one of the leading tacklers on the team, with 31 total tackles this season. The three year varsity starter was recently awarded first team All- Great Northern Conference at offensive line and also received second team honors at defensive line.
Outside of football Dengel stays busy, shooting on the Merrill trap team in the spring, as well as participating in the Junior Optimist Club. On his free time Dengel enjoys hunting, fishing and snowmobiling and also owns and operates Double D Lawn Care and Landscaping.
The son of Melissa and Darrel Dengel of Merrill, Dawson sports a perfect 4.0 GPA. Following graduation in spring of 2020 Dengel will be attending Marquette University to study either civil or construction engineering.
