Christ United Methodist Church and Wildwood Chapel are pleased to announce the assignment of a new pastor. Pastor Laverne Larson began serving our churches effective July 1st.
Pastor Laverne is a licensed local Pastor with a great variety of experience both before and after becoming a pastor. Some of those experiences outside of the church include: CNA, bookkeeper and tax preparer, computer map-maker, church secretary and business manager. Within the church her experience includes: church choir, church janitor, church education committee member, Sunday School teacher, bible study leader and Sunday School Superintendent. She has traveled more than once to Uganda to help train new pastors and has helped to raise funds to build a college in eastern Uganda specifically to train additional pastors. That college is expected to be up and running later this year.
Pastor Laverne’s education is through UW-Green Bay and North Central Jurisdictional COS in Evanston Illinois. As a pastor, she has served thirteen churches, all of them as 2 or 3 point charges.
Pastor Laverne lives in Wausau with her husband, Pastor Ethan Larson. He is the full-time pastor for Wesley United Methodist Church in Wausau. And together they have 5 adult children and 3 + grandchildren. The plus stands for their new grandbaby due around Christmas, 2019.
