Marshfield Clinic system to expand Wausau presence with new hospital

WAUSAU – Marshfield Clinic Health System today announced it will create an integrated medical campus to expand the level of primary and specialty care it provides in the Wausau community.
The expanded campus will include the construction of a state-of-the-art hospital attached to its existing clinic in Wausau at 2727 Plaza Drive. The expansion will break ground in the next few weeks and is expected to open for patient care in March 2021.
“We’ve served the Wausau community for decades, and we are thrilled with the opportunity to enhance the level of care we can provide locally. Our patients, families and all communities that rely on our presence in Wausau deserve state-of-the-art facilities, and care that revolves around their needs,” said Dr. Susan Turney, Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO. “That’s what we will bring to Wausau with our integrated campus, staffed by our physicians who have long served the area.”
The integrated medical campus will be called Marshfield Medical Center-Wausau and support the 120 care providers who practice in the region by combining the System’s clinical services with hospital-based care.
The existing Wausau Center was established in 1997 and offers a full spectrum of pediatric and adult primary care. Adult specialty care services include oncology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics and more. Pediatric specialty care services include gastroenterology, nephrology, cardiology, oncology, behavioral health and more.
