Bluejay tennis dominates Evergreens

The lady Jays tennis team looked to be an unstoppable force for Everest, chopping up the Evergreens for a 6-1 victory on Thursday, Sept. 26. Merrill’s singles would go undefeated on the day, with their one loss coming in doubles play.
“DC Everest had their best player in #1 doubles (Calista Fuehrer),” said Merrill assistant coach Brad Barton. “While Merrill’s number one doubles team of Erin Murray and Anna Rydeski were very upset they lost, they did play well. Calista’s return of serve was very good and it cost our team some of their service game.”
Murray and Rydeski put up a very good fight, working for every single point. The two would eventually fall by scores of 6-7 (2), 7-5, 7-5. The Merrill girls would dominate the rest of the matches as Merrill’s number two singles, Amelia Skoviera defeating Ruoyu Chen 6-0, 6-1.
