Annie Moses Band to perform at MHS auditorium

Nationally acclaimed and Nashville-based Annie Moses Band is heading for Merrill to kick off the 2019-2020 Merrill Area Concert Association (MACA) season. The band’s matinee performance at the Merrill High School Auditorium is set for Sunday, September 29 begins at 3 p.m.
If you don’t have tickets, keep reading—but if you already have your MACA membership, mark your calendar and prepare to be blown away! The Annie Moses Band story began in the Great Depression, in a north Texas cotton field. The cotton that great-grandmother Annie Moses picked for a wealthy landowner, paid for her daughter’s piano lessons. The grandmother, in turn, continued the family’s tradition by providing her children the best musical education possible.
The sacrifices of Annie and her daughter have brought us to the present generations: classically trained musicians mining the rich traditions of ‘roots music’—thus creating a unique and distinct blend of classically polished ‘roots music.’ Since 2002, the Annie Moses Band has recorded over a dozen albums, produced PBS specials, traveled the world and performed on stages as diverse as Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry.
In addition, the band’s nonprofit foundation nurtures young musicians’ artistic development, reaches students nationwide with a Conservatory and online music curricula, and oversees a summer music festival in Nashville.
By acting on their vision to bridge Juilliard and Nashville via north Texas, Annie Moses strives to create a new generation of artists filling all art forms with truth, beauty, and goodness, underpinned in faith.
The Annie Moses Band will treat you with renditions of classics such as “I’ve Been Everywhere”, “Ghost Riders”, and The Orange Blossom Special, as well as adaptations of classical works from Copland’s Appalachian Spring and Gershwin’s An American In Paris. Pepper this with a variety of folk and country favorites and you have something for everyone, performed by the family that is…the eclectic Annie Moses Band.
Attendance at all Merrill Area Concert Association performances is open to members only, but we invite you to become a member. A season membership is an unbeatable value, allowing you to attend all the local MACA concerts, plus all of Antigo’s and Medford’s concert association performances as well. This concert season promises to expand your musical horizons, and every single performance will be distinctive.
While you can purchase a membership on concert night, it’s best to call in advance so you don’t miss a minute of entertainment. For more information, visit our website at www.merrillconcerts.org, email [email protected] or contact Meagan at 715-252-6295.
