T.B Scott Library announces ‘Library of Things’ collection

T.B. Scott Free Library has embarked on a new collection known as the “Library of Things”. To start the collection off, local resident Jane Schulz approached the library with the idea of donating fishing poles and tackle in memory of her husband, Dan Schulz, who was an avid fisherman. Our library gladly accepted the poles and tackle to share with the community. This offered us the opportunity to engage the public with our close connection to nature.
The fishing poles join the Disc Golf Packs already available for checkout at the library. The objective in offering Disk Golf Packs was to provide area residents and visitors with the equipment necessary to enjoy this game at the various parks in the city – Stanges, Kitchenette, and Riverside – that have been equipped with Disc Golf courses.
Library staff have surveyed the public via Facebook, the Library website and signage within the library to determine the next “Things” our community would like to see made available for checkout. And, the survey says . . . At a near tie for 1st place are passes to local businesses/attractions – Riverside Athletic Club, Bierman Family Aquatic Center, Merrill Go-Round and Council Grounds. Following close behind are telescopes and bird-watching kits.
Stop in at T.B. Scott Free Library and check out a pole today! Happy Fishing! For more information, contact the library at 715-536-7191 or visit our website at www.tbscottlibrary.org.
