Merrill Police reports

August 23
At 12:32 p.m., an officer investigated a report of vandalism to an exterior of a business.

At 1:36 p.m., an officer investigated a report of trespass to a dwelling. The investigation is ongoing.

At 2:39 p.m., an officer investigated a forgery/fraud complaint involving a stolen credit card. Investigation is ongoing.

August 24
At 12:50 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a UTV. The male operator of the UTV had been exceeding the 15mph speed limit which ATV and UTV type vehicles are required to obey when being operated in the City of Merrill. The male was issued a citation for careless operation of an ATV.

August 25
At 8:30 a.m. a caller reported someone had stolen two kayaks from a trailer in his yard sometime during the previous week.

At 1:56 p.m. an officer assisted a Wisconsin State Trooper at a traffic stop. A female was arrested for possession of methamphetamine during the stop.

At 9:36 p.m. a male responded to the Police Department with surveillance video showing a male committing a theft. The investigation continues.

August 26
At 10:05 a.m., a caller reported a theft of a television from their residence. The investigation is ongoing.

August 27
At 1:55 p.m., an officer investigated a report of possible tampering with vehicles at an auto dealership. The officer will continue to investigate to identify the suspect and officers will increase patrol on all dealerships to prevent further incidents.

August 28
At 4:21 p.m., a male party came to the Police Department to report that he had given out his social security number during a scam. Investigation is ongoing.

At 6:39 p.m., an officer made contact with a group of individuals who were loitering at the high school. One female was cited for loitering as she had been warned for the violation previously. The High School administration has asked the Police Department to keep loiterers out of the lot due to previous and multiple acts of mischief.

August 29
At 1:34 p.m., officers responded to the office of Probation and Parole to take a male party into custody for a probation violation. He was transported to the jail.

August 30
At 10:28 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a driving complaint in which a vehicle was said to have been driving erratically. A registration plate number was supplied by the caller and determined to be expired. The vehicle was located and stopped. The driver was placed through field sobriety testing and was arrested for OWI-1 st offense.

September 1
At 6:14 p.m., an officer responded to Stanges Park Pavillion for a person who had lit a fire under the pavilion. The Officer identified the offender and the offender was cited for aggravated Disorderly Conduct, as no damage had occurred to the pavilion.

At 7:59 p.m. Officers responded to the 1200 block of E Main Street in reference to a person who had entered another person’s residence. The offender was identified and taken into custody for Criminal Trespass to a dwelling.

September 2
At 8:31 a.m. a caller reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. The vehicle contents were in disarray but nothing was reported missing.

At 8:34 a.m. a caller reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole her purse and contents.

At 9:07 a.m. a caller reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole some money and misc. property.

At 9:13 a.m. a caller reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole her purse and contents. Most of the contents were located and returned as officers located them investigating numerous other vehicle entries.

At 9:36 a.m. a caller reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. Nothing was reported to be missing.

At 10:26 am.. a caller reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole her purse and contents. A neighbor had located the contents spilled in the roadway. All the contents were accounted for and only the purse itself was reported missing.

At 11:12 a.m. a caller reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. Nothing was reported to be missing.

At 11:39 a.m. a caller reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole some money a sunglasses.

At 1:27 p.m. a caller reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole a cell phone battery.

At 3:50 p.m. a caller reported someone had entered her unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole a debit card and first aid kit. Both items were found nearby.

At 5:29 p.m. a caller reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight and stole a pair of safety glasses.
