Merrill Police Reports

August 17
An officer took a report of a theft of checks from a residence. A suspect was identified and the investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 4:02 p.m., an officer took a report of a stolen bicycle. Investigation is ongoing.

At 9:36 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle accelerating in a rapid and unnecessary manner on Center Avenue. The vehicle was stopped and the operator of the vehicle displayed signs indicative of impairment. The subject was placed through field sobriety tests and was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st offense.

August 18
At approximately 3:13 p.m., an officer took a report of damage to windows on a vehicle. Investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 10:28 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on West Main Street after it was found that the vehicles registration was suspended. During the course of the contact, the operator of the vehicle handed the officer her temporary identification which was folded up. The officer located folded up in the identification a receipt that was also folded up and contained a small amount of methamphetamine. Further search of the vehicle resulted in officers locating marijuana and other items of drug paraphernalia. The female subject was taken into custody and transported to the jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

August 19
At 10:33 a.m., officers responded to the office of Probation and Parole to take a male party into custody for a probation violation. The male was arrested and was transported to the jail.

At 4:04 p.m., officers responded to the office of Probation and Parole to take a female party into custody for a probation violation. The female was arrested and was transported to the jail.

At 7:03 p.m., an officer responded to a theft complaint. The caller advised they had parts stolen off of their vehicle while they were at work. Investigation is ongoing.

August 20
At 10:30 a.m., an officer responded to a theft complaint. The caller advised she had $30 stolen from her sometime during the week. Investigation is ongoing.

August 22
At 1:12 a.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance taking place at a residence between a male and a female. Upon arrival of officers, the female party had left already. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

At 7:24 a.m., an officer responded to a business on West Main Street that wanted to report damage to the interior of the business that had occurred overnight. The identity of the suspect was determined and he will be referred to the District Attorney of charges of criminal damage to property and bail jumping.

At 7:57 p.m., officers responded to a residence after receiving information that two individuals that had active warrants were currently at the residence. The two individuals were located standing outside of the residence. Both individuals were taken into custody for warrants that they had through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole and were transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

August 23
At 12:32 p.m., an officer investigated a report of vandalism to an exterior of a business.

At 1:36 p.m., an officer investigated a report of trespass to a dwelling. The investigation is ongoing.

At 2:39 p.m., an officer investigated a forgery/fraud complaint involving a stolen credit card. Investigation is ongoing.

August 24
At 12:50 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a UTV. The male operator of the UTV had been exceeding the 15mph speed limit which ATV and UTV type vehicles are required to obey when being operated in the City of Merrill. The male was issued a citation for careless operation of an ATV.

August 25
At 8:30 a.m. a caller reported someone had stolen two kayaks from a trailer in his yard sometime during the previous week.

At 1:56 p.m. an officer assisted a Wisconsin State Trooper at a traffic stop. A female was arrested for possession of methamphetamine during the stop.

At 9:36 p.m. a male responded to the Police Department with surveillance video showing a male committing a theft. The investigation continues.
