Merrill Police reports

July 29
At 10:55 p.m. an individual reported the theft of money from a residence. The investigation is ongoing.

July 30
At 4:30 p.m., officers responded to the office of Probation and Parole to take a male party into custody for a probation violation. He was walked to the jail.

July 31
At 9:49 a.m., an officer responded to a retail theft complaint. The caller advised she had caught a male party trying to steal condoms from the store. Contact was made with the male who
admitted to trying to steal the condoms. He was cited for retail theft.

At 9:23 p.m., officers responded to a drug activity complaint. The anonymous caller stated they
saw what they thought to be a drug deal at a local business. Contact was made with one party
who was said to be involved. He denied the accusations. Later, the anonymous caller called
back and stated the other two males who were involved were now at another business. Contact
was made with both parties and one was found to have two active warrants for his arrest. The
male was arrested and was transported to the jail.

August 1
At 2:06 a.m., officers responded to a burglary. The caller stated an intoxicated female came into his home and was sleeping on his couch. Officers made contact with the intoxicated female. The caller only wanted her removed from the residence. The female suspect was found to have an open bond with a sobriety restriction. She was arrested and transported to the jail for bail jumping.

At 8:52 a.m., an officer responded to a fraud complaint. A local business had a counterfeit $20.00 bill passed at their business. Video footage was obtained of the two suspects. Investigation is ongoing.

At 5:28 p.m., an officer responded to a gas skip. The suspect did not pay for $20.00 worth of fuel. Investigation is ongoing.

August 3
At approximately 4:58 p.m. Officers initiated a traffic stop for a suspended vehicle registration. During the investigation of the traffic stop, it was found that the driver had a revoked license as well and the odor of intoxicants could be detected emanating from the driver. Officers conducted a field sobriety test with the driver to which discovered further indication of the driver’s impaired state. The driver then adhered to a preliminary breath test and gave a sample higher than that of the legal .08 limit set for Wisconsin. The driver was also in violation of their driver’s license restrictions of .02. The driver was taken into custody for OWI 2 nd , operating after revocation OWI related and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping.

At approximately 1:28 p.m. Officers began an investigation regarding the theft of jewelry, clothes and misc. items from a residence. Suspects have been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
