A 32-year old Merrill man was arrested Monday afternoon on a warrant charge of a probation violation after deputies went to a home in the Town of Corning to check the welfare of a man at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

A 58-year old Merrill woman was arrested Friday on a felony charge of physical abuse of a child.

A 28-year old Schofield man was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant charge. The man appeared in Lincoln County Court, when a check was done it was discovered he was wanted by the Oneida County Sheriff for failing to appear on felony charges.

Residents are once again reminded of the threats of scams after a Town of Merrill woman fell victim last week. She was told her identity had been stolen and her information was used to rent a car in the State of Texas. The scammer told her the car was damaged and drugs were found inside of it. She was told she needed to provide money to aid in the investigation or she would be arrested for involvement in the incident. The woman followed the thief’s instructions
and purchased gift cards at local retailers. When she provided the card and pin numbers over the phone the money was instantly removed and is not able to be recovered, costing the woman thousands of dollars.

Deputies along with firefighters from Tomahawk and the Town of Russell responded to a car fire Friday evening in the Town of Birch. A 911 call reported the fire in a closed business on US Hwy 51 north of County Rd V at 4:21 p.m. The 2004 Monte Carlo was a total loss.

Four people received injuries after a two car crash Sunday morning in the Town of Scott at the south intersection of County Rd K and County Rd Q at 11:52 AM. County Rd K had one lane closed for about an hour.

A 30-year old Merrill man was arrested Sunday evening on three felony counts of bail jumping after deputies responded to a disturbance in the Town of Merrill.
The number of deer crashes is back up with eleven being reported last week.
