Sheriffs office, fire departments respond to USH 51 semi fire

Local volunteer fire departments and deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriffs Office responded to a reported semi-trailer on fire early Wednesday morning, July 24.
According to a press release issued by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday, at approximately 2:38 a.m. deputies responded to a report of a semi-trailer on fire on USH 51 northbround, 1/2 mile north of County Road Q in the Town of Pine River. Upon arrival by deputies, it was found the trailer was engulfed in flames. The semi-tractor driver reported that the trailer tire had caught fire and spread to the trailer when he stopped. He was able to detach the trailer from the tractor, to prevent further loss.
The truck operator was not injured during the incident.
The Town of Pine River Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 2:42 a.m. and arrived on scene to put out the fire at approximately 3:04 a.m. The fire was successfully contained and eliminated. As a result of this incident, the trailer was a total loss due to fire and water damage, and was removed from the scene.
USH 51 northbound was shut down and traffic was re-routed during the incident. The highway re-opened for regular traffic flow at 5:10 a.m.
The Town of Russell Fire Department also assisted Wednesday morning.
