Levon Van Der Geest became the youngest racer to win a feature at the Milwaukee Mile, taking first place in his truck series race on June 16, at the age of 15. The Milwaukee Mile is the oldest speedway in the world, hosting at least one race each year from 1903 to 2015.
According to Van Der Geest he started in eighth place in the race, and slowly moved up throughout. Van Der Geest took his first lead with 10 laps remaining, and would battle for first the rest of the way. A late caution gave Van Der Geest an opportunity and he took advantage, snagging the lead with two laps left and keeping it the rest of the way.
“I’m really honored to have the opportunity to race,” said Van Der Geest, “I’m also very humbled to have won that race, competing against guys who have triple the amount of race experience.”
Van Der Geest has been racing since he was eight years old and as of June 19, is ninth in points for the Midwest Truck Series.
