T.B Scott Library to host recall candidate forum

T.B. Scott Free Library will be hosting a City of Merrill Aldermanic Recall Election Forum on Thursday July 11 from 6-8:15 p.m. at the Merrill Expo Center. Districts 1 & 7 candidate forum will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Districts 5,6 & 8 candidate forum will be from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
The candidates in the July 16 recall election are alphabetically listed by district: District 1 Becky Meyer ; incumbent Paul Russell. District 5, Shannon Collins ; incumbent John VanLieshout District 6 David Sukow is running unopposed . District 7: Eric Dayton ; incumbent Rob Norton, and District 8 incumbent Tim Meehean ; Steve Sabatke.
T.B Scott Library’s Aldermanic Recall Election Forum will provide the public with an opportunity to see, hear, and question the candidates. The moderator for the evening will be Melinda Osterberg, University of Wisconsin-Madison Extension Community Development Educator for Lincoln County. Ms. Osterberg will be assisted by Jeremy Ratliff, Editor of the Merrill Foto News, Merrill Courier and Wausau Times & Buyers Guide.
Citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in this nonpartisan event. Beginning at 5:30 p.m. those in attendance can submit their questions for the candidates, by filling out a card and placing it into a box. Those who attend may also submit questions on behalf of someone who cannot be present. All candidates will provide opening and closing statements as part of the Forum.
The recall election will be held on Tuesday, July 16 with the polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
