Two goals for Journey Smith led the way for the Bluejays, in a 3-0 Regional Semi-Finals win over Hortonville on Tuesday, May 28.
Merrill grabbed the lead in the first half of action, with Grace Heldt finding the back of the net on a McKenna Smith pass. In the 59th minute of play, Journey Smith scored her first goal of the night. Smith would get possession of the ball at mid field and beat the Hortonville defense back, netting the ball from five yards out. In the 88th minute, Smith found the back of the goal again. It was similar to her first goal, with Smith streaking down the field passed the Hortonville defense, however the Hortonville goalie would stop her first attempt, but Smith was there to clean up the rebound.
Merrill now advanced to the Regional Final, where they will travel to Rhinelander on Saturday, June 1, with the game starting at 5 p.m.
